Lack of Counter Space, You’ve reclaimed some counter space, but do you still feel like it’s not enough? That’s a common issue. We have ideas for maximizing (and even adding) more counter space to your small kitchen, including a trick for turning your sink into a cutting board (pictured above).
We’ve put together some small-kitchen decorating ideas that tackle the following issues with good design solutions. The three most common small-kitchen complaints are clutter, lack of counter space and a dark kitchen.
The door style makes the cabinet: When choosing cabinetry the door style is what you’re really choosing for your decoration. To find cabinet doors, bring home samples or pictures from your local cabinetry dealer. Choose minimal lines for modern kitchens, exposed simple lines for Craftsman style, and intricate detailed doors for a traditional look. Many cabinetry companies will have a sales person that can bring samples to your home to compare in your kitchen. This is a great idea if you are wavering on a style!
Dual-Tone To achieve this look, paint your upper cabinets a different color than your lower cabinets. While there are millions of color combinations, some of the more popular include black on bottom and white on top, or bold colors on bottom and neutral on top. You could also contrast colors between wall cabinets and island cabinets.
